m n ŋ
In English we switch from oral to nasal resonance only when we encounter the three nasal consonants m n ŋ. In French there are nasal vowels as well as consonants, therefore most of the sounds are nasal. Nasalize vowels and diphthongs when they come before the m n ŋ
am | Anne | answer | anvil | angel | avenue | ambulance |
band | on | soon | ring | apartment | younger | adolescent |
There are no diphthongs in French. Use first element of the diphthongs
e a ɔː oː ɑː
There are no weak forms or weakened syllables for a French accent, however they may be modified, so as not to be extreme in the pronunciation of words.
Use the short iː instead of the second front vowel I
